Welcome to the Net Effect Party website. You are now at the start of a new type of political party in Australia - one formed by online consensus, operating firmly in the 21st century and largely free of legacy political concepts.
Currently we are aiming to be a Federal party only. If we are successful in gaining Federal seats at this year's election, we'll expand into State parliaments in subsequent elections. Our immediate goal is to put together a formal operating structure and gain the 500 members required to become a proper Australian political party as required by law. We also need Member volunteers to take hierarchy positions in the Party, including the technical running, administration and financial sides.
We live in an age where technology has given us the means to be truly, globally representative of the people's will. Of course, the problem with that idea is that conventional governments, for the most part, no longer truly represent those who have elected them to "power". As the barriers to political participation have come down, new barriers have gone up to try to prevent popular opinion from having sway over governments that would prefer to tolerate their populations rather than serve them as they were elected to do.
This is where Net Effect comes in.
Right from the start we have set ourselves up to be an open, accountable party, using the technology of the 21st century as a way to allow all Australians, no matter where they live, to have equal access to us and our policies.
Increasingly, people are finding it very difficult to get clear, unbiased information from their politicians. Our view on this is simple - if you want information on us or our policies, just visit our website! You have easy access to our documentation and information right here, but better still, you can directly communicate with us through our online forum. We aren't special. We're ordinary, tech savvy Australians, just like you, who are fed up with the lack of representation our current politicians are providing us.
Many people no longer believe our current politicians are doing the job they were elected to do. We certainly don't - that's why we started Net Effect! We believe we can provide a better way of conducting politics than any of the current parliamentary parties. As the old adage goes: "When governments fear the people, there is democracy. When people fear the government, there is tyranny." Put another way, we aim to be there not for ourselves, but for you. If you don't like one of our policies, become a Member and change it! The more people who decide to join us, the more representative we will become. If you think your Federal Members of Parliament are a waste of taxpayers' money, replace them! Run as a Net Effect candidate in YOUR electorate, be it as a Senate candidate or a House of Representatives candidate.
Download a copy of our Constitution. Read it (it's pretty short - we hate long winded documents too!). If you like our ideals, become a Member. It doesn't cost much and it means you'll have as much say on our policies as any other Member (no one gets any more say than anyone else, right from the top down).
Finally, when it comes to election day, don't simply vote the way you've always voted. Vote after thinking about what you want for yourself, your family, and your country. Remember that our policies are shaped by YOU. You've got the chance right now to make OUR policies, YOUR policies. Have your say, and vote for us knowing that your say mattered.
